Description

UNFORTUNATELY, THIS ITEM IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE.

Before there was Dick Cavett the talk show host, there was Dick Cavett the comedian. Cavett's early career as a writer for Jack Paar and Johnny Carson naturally led him into the world of stand-up comedy, where his contemporaries were the likes of Woody Allen and Bill Cosby. But, Cavett's comedian guests were by no means limited to his contemporaries. Cavett developed warm personal relationships with people like Groucho Marx, Bob Hope and Jack Benny. These great raconteurs and story-tellers had some of their finest moments in Cavett's studio, where they found a unique forum that didn't necessarily require them to be funny. But, of course, they simply couldn't be anything else.

Bonus Features Include:New introductions to each episode by Dick Cavett, 1969 TV special Here’s Dick Cavett, Archival interview with Joanne Carson, Dick Cavett appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1966, outtakes, series promos...PLUS: Cavett Remembers The Comic Legends: Emmy® Award-winning director Bob Weide (Curb Your Enthusiasm) talks to Dick Cavett about the legendary comedians who appeared on The Dick Cavett Show...AND: Cavett Backstage: Dick Cavett takes a behind-the-scenes look at The Dick Cavett Show and his early days as a writer and comedian with veteran comedy writer Tom Whedon and Bob Weide.
