HAWK LARABEE
HAWK LARABEE
Not quite a full-fledged adult western, but very close to one, Hawk Larabee featured Barton Yarborough in the title role. Directed by William N. Robson, these tales of frontier life often cast cattleman Larabee and sidekick Somber Jones into the unwilling role of range detectives. Western music, with bridges sung by the Texas Rangers or Andy Parker's Plainsmen, gave the series a casual, campfire feel. While pleasant, the music undercut the attempted seriousness of the dramas.
